As Executive Director of High Hopes, Inc., a non-profit organization in Brentwood, TN, Gail Powell recently concluded a successful $3.0 million campaign to fund the construction of a new 14,000 square foot facility. High Hopes is an inclusive preschool that educates children with and without special needs, coupled with an outpatient therapy clinic that provides speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy and music therapy to children ages birth to 21.

Education and children have been Mrs. Powell’s life as she has been an educator for more than thirty-five years. She has been an elementary school teacher and principal both in public and private schools. Powell was the Head of the Lower School for Battle Ground Academy for nine years.

Due to her varied background, Gail is uniquely equipped to help non-profits and schools with their capital campaign needs. As a seasoned administrator, she knows how to incorporate the demands of a campaign with the day to day functioning of the organization.

Gail says, “When I served as a principal in public and private schools, I did not have the responsibility, expertise, or desire to be involved in ‘fund development’.  When I became executive director of a child-centered nonprofit, all three of those factors changed.  While the mission of any organization is the supreme reward, helping an organization to utilize the resources of its supporters to achieve that mission has become one of my greatest personal satisfactions.”

In addition to her work with the Carpenter’s Plan, Gail is committed to life in Williamson County. She is a graduate of Franklin Citizen’s Police Academy and Leadership Franklin.  She is currently on the board of Youth Leadership Franklin.  She is active in the Williamson County Chamber of Commerce and formerly served on the Board of United Way of Williamson County.  Gail is married to Ben Powell and has two married sons, one married daughter, and eight grandchildren who live in Franklin.
